Introduction
  • Tissue fluid that is not returned to the blood circulatory system will accumulate in the intercellular space.
  • This will result in the swelling of the body tissues.
  • This condition is known as oedema.
  • Oedema may be caused by a number of factors such as pregnancy, prolonged bedridden, deficiency in plasma protein and parasitic infection.
