Human Breathing

  • Humans are one of the most complex living things on earth. As we all know, humans have various systems in the body that allow us to stay alive. This system also protects us from danger and disease.

2.1  Human Breathing

  • Human breathe to live.
  • During breathing, humans inhale air into the lungs and exhale air out of the lungs.
  • The lungs are one of the human respiratory organ in the respiratory system.

Human respiratory organs

Human respiratory process:

Breathing involves the process of inhaling & exhaling

  • During inhalation, air pass through the nose/mouth, trachea & lungs
  • When air in the lungs, a process of gas exchange takes place
  • Oxygen enters the lungs, carbon dioxide expel out of the lungs
  • During exhalation, air pass through the lungs, trachea & nose/mouth

Oxygen and carbon dioxide content during respiration

  • During inhalation, the air into the lungs has more oxygen than the air expel from the lungs
  • During exhalation, the air expel from the lungs has more carbon dioxide than the air into the lungs

Chest movement during respiration

  • During inhalation, the chest will rise due to the air entering the lungs
  • During exhalation, the chest will fall due to the air coming out of the lungs

Respiratory rate

  • The number of chest rises and falls per minute
  • The rate of respiration depends on the activity being carried out at that time
