Chapter 2: Speaking Skills

What you need to learn in this chapter

In this chapter, students will develop their ability to communicate information, ideas, opinions, and feelings clearly and effectively on familiar topics. They will learn to use appropriate language registers, adjusting their tone and style according to different audiences and contexts.

Students will practice communicating in both small and large group settings, engaging in meaningful discussions where they explain and justify their own viewpoints as well as those of others. They will refine their ability to interpret and explain information from diagrams, charts, tables, graphs, and other visuals, enhancing their analytical and presentation skills.

Additionally, students will explore strategies for discussing the advantages and disadvantages of various ideas, plans, and arrangements. They will work on articulating their future plans and ambitions with clear reasoning and justification. By engaging in discourse-level exchanges, they will strengthen their ability to paraphrase and rephrase ideas, ensuring smooth and effective interaction.

By the end of this chapter, students will be able to negotiate classroom tasks effectively, maintain meaningful interactions, and confidently express the main points of ideas or arguments using appropriate communication strategies.
