"Happiness is homemade." That’s what the little wooden sign above my kitchen stove says, and I couldn’t agree more. While others may kick a ball or scroll endlessly on social media, I turn to baking to unwind. One sunny Saturday, I decided to spend my leisure time baking a batch of my favourite treat, double chocolate chip cookies. It had been a tiring week at school, and the thought of warm cookies and the smell of vanilla was just what I needed.

I headed to the kitchen and laid out all the ingredients. The soft whiff of cocoa powder filled the air, and the moment I cracked the first egg, I felt like I was in my own little baking show. I mixed, stirred, and folded the dough with great care, adding a handful of chocolate chips for extra joy. My playlist played cheerfully in the background, and everything seemed perfect, until disaster struck.

As I reached for the tray, my elbow knocked over the flour container. Poof! A snowy cloud filled the room. I stood there, completely covered in white, looking like a baking ghost. I couldn’t help but burst into laughter. It was a mess, but it was hilarious and strangely, it made the day even better.

Thankfully, the cookies came out just right, crispy on the outside, gooey in the middle, and still warm. I shared them with my younger brother, who gave me two thumbs up. His smile was the cherry on top, and I felt a wave of satisfaction wash over me.

That simple afternoon became one of my most enjoyable moments. Baking never fails to lift my spirits, and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a break from their routine. After all, a little sweetness goes a long way!
