Pelaksanaan Inkuiri: Bahasa Inggeris KSSR Tahun 1

INKUIRI

 

  • Merupakan satu pendekataan dimana pelajar menggunakan penyiasatan dan penerokaan berasaskan pengetahuan sedia ada untuk membina pengetahuan dan kefahaman sendiri.

 

  • Pelaksanaan ini berasaskan projek, penyiasatan saintifik, pembelajaran berasaskan masalah dan pembelajaran kolaboratif.

 

  • Berfokus kepada learning by doing yang melibatkan murid, melaksanakan aktiviti penerokaan, penyiasatan, penyoalan, berfikir secara reflektif dan penemuan ilmu baru.

 

  • Kemahiran ini diperlukan oleh setiap murid untuk menguasai pengetahuan sepanjang hayat.

 

  • Membantu penguasaan pelbagai kemahiran aras tinggi seperti kemahiran saintifik, kemahiran insaniah, kemahiran teknologi maklumat, kemahiran menyelesaikan masalah dan kemahiran membuat keputusan.

 

 

CONTOH RANCANGAN PELAJARAN HARIAN: BAHASA INGGERIS KSSR TAHUN 1

 

Subject: English Year 1

 

Theme: World of Knowledge

 

Topic: Gardening

 

Skills: Listening and Speaking

 

Content Standard:

1.3 Pupils will be able to listen to, understand and respond in a variety of context.

 

Learning Standard:

1.3.2 Pupils can talk about a stimulus by responding to Wh-questions.

 

Objective: At the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to talk about the stimulus by responding to Wh-questions.

 

EMK: Values

 

Teaching Aids: Picture cards, paper bag, trowel, small bags of soil, packets of seed, mineral water, plant pots

 

 

A. ENGAGEMENT PHASE (10 MINUTES)

 

Activities:

  1. The topic “Gardening” is written on the board. Place the picture cards on the board.
  2. Using the picture cards as stimuli, begin a conversation with the pupils about things related to gardening. Let the pupils recall and bring up related personal experiences pertaining to gardening or planting trees.
  3. Lead the discussion towards the process of planting a seed. Encourage pupils to use wh-questions to explore the topic. Answers are recorded on the board.
  1. What can you plant in a garden?
  2. If you have a garden, what do you like to plant?
  3. What is this? (while holding a seed)
  4. What do you need to plant a seed?
  5. What are the steps taken to plant a seed
  6. Can you name a gardening tool?

 

Notes:

  • Picture cards - Appendix 1 (a – f)
  • Continuing to encourage memory sharing may help the slow learners to recall their experience.
  • Encourage the usage of simple present tense in sentences. Introduce verbs – e.g. dig a hole, plant a seed, water the plants.
  • Teachers can expect varieties of answers from the pupils.

 

 

B. EXPLORATIAN PHASE (20 MINUTES)

 

Activities:

  1. Now, pupils sit in small groups. Each group is provided with gardening items.
  2. Pupils are provided with an instruction on how to plant the seed. Looking at the instruction given, pupils discuss and decide on how to start the process. Pupils start their planting process using the items provided. C Teacher facilitates.

 

Notes:

  • Items:
  • Trowel
  • A small bag of soil
  • A packet of seed
  • A bottle of mineral water
  • A plant pots
  • The slow learners might need guidance in following the instruction given.

 

 

C. EXPLANATION PHASE (12 MINUTES)

 

Activities:

  1. Pupils show their results. Each group presents what they have produced and explain the steps taken to do so.
  2. Pupils from other groups may ask questions regarding other group’s work and they may correct each other.

 

Notes:

  • Pupils might have correctly planted a seed, or not.

 

 

D. ELABORATION PHASE (10 MINUTES)

 

Activities:

  1. Pupils share their experience during the process of planting. Pupils predict what will happen after a week.
  • Will the plant grow?
  • What is necessary for the seeds to grow?
  • Can the seed sprout without water? ...sun? ...soil?
  • What might happen if you......?
  • What could you try differently?

 

Notes:

  • Expected response:
  • The plants will grow.
  • Water the plant
  • Expose to sun


 

E. EVALUATION PHASE (8 MINUTES)

 

Activities:

  1. Pupils watch a short video entitled “Gardening”. (videos can be found on YouTube)
  2. Using the worksheet provided, pupils compare with their own steps used in the planting process. Pupils reflect and make improvements. Pupils number the correct steps in planting a seed.

 

Notes:

  • Worksheet is provided.
  • Teacher guides the pupils to make the reflection.
